Brass, useless gauges ≠ steampunk.

Uh oh, I think that steam punk thing has now jumped the shark. Well, it was fun.

While they are cool looking to a certain degree, I don't see anything that clearly makes them stand out as being "steampunk".

I have to agree, the term is over-used and misapplied and that sadly Fonzie is indeed wearing a leather jacket on water skis.

It was fun though.

Anything that is brass colored bolted to wood is steampunk?

Yeah I agree, the boards look cool, but if you wanted to call them steam punk maybe a little more work than just strapping some brass plates to them would be in order. As it is you just made some neat boards but you look like a poser.

What's next -- "Steampunk Wheelbarrow", "Steampunk Pencil", and "Steampunk Bucket" projects?

This really needs a two stage steam engine with the spinning speed control weights and a huge flywheel running gear driven wheels. The steering should be accomplished by by hydraulic hosed foot pedals that actuate a cam link assembly for the steering rods and also connect to silhouette of a hand in the rear that indicates the direction of the turn. Steam output should be condensed into water droplets that are released by mechanically actuated valves driven by a player piano type paper tape assembly that drips messages on the road behind the rider.
