I hate being an Asshole Copyeditor -- I love you to death, Cory -- but please, please, can you change "infamous" to something else, even if it's just "famous"? "Infamous" means to be famous for bad things. The modern misuse of it to mean "really, really famous" is not yet a fight we've completely lost. You have lots of readers. Please fix this!

The meaning of the word has changed to fit our modern definition :D. It no longer means "bad" because so many people use it otherwise.

Ciao! I'm the guy who made the grammatical error and well, you know, I think language needs to breath. The point is to communicate and understand each other. Going from alternative hippie school to journalism, I'm used to being criticized by well-meaning copy editors. Like the adage, the guy who holds a hammer only see nails. I feel badly, really, for those who have to live in a world full of badly educated, bad spelling idiots like myself. Really. I'm not being snarky. I'm sure I made many more errors in this post, but I think I made my point.

yeah, infamous means having a really bad reputation. to the guy who said it has changed meaning, that is just crazy talk. when you hear FDR's famous speech about "a date which will live in infamy", do you think, "what really, really good and famous thing happened on that day"?

Who claims incorrect usage of 'infamous' there? You are *presuming* that the film, or the Dylan, didn't unleash a world of suffering. On a cosmological scale, we will have to live with his legacy far longer than Dylan ever will, and the only other poet-turned-religious figures I ever came across was Cat Stephens, and ... Mohammed. I'd say in around 200 years time we'll have the first Intelligible vs Unintelligable war, all thanks to Mr. Dylan. They'll then invade Spain, and restore lost wisdom, before being usurped by petro-popes and a rebirth of the dark ages. At that point, *everything* he ever turned his hippy-peddling fingers to will be 'infamous'.
