American wins back World Air Guitar Championship
American Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier beat out reigning champ Yosuke "Dainoji" Ochi with his passionate performance at the World Air Guitar Championship this past weekend in Oulu, Finland. I was secretly a big fan of Dainoji and his tiger sweater, but I guess it was time for him to hand over the belt.

Honestly, I wanted AWESOME to win the US Title, but I think Hot Lixx was a more solid performer in the random round...and he did a back flip into the crowd. His performance in Oulu looked pretty clean, I think it hearkens back to the days before the US got involved when it was about talent and not so much theatrics.
Arm socks with fringe! How could he not win?
I was actually looking forward to the air trombone championships, but I guess they were cancelled as too many people felt it looked obscene.
The true artists, however, are the air-one-man-band performers. Although some try to cheat and use an air-drum-machine air-strapped to their chest rather than the traditional air-bass-drum air-strapped to their back, I think both the audience and the judges are quick to let them know how lame that is.
Watching Hot Lixx win the WAGC made me proud to be an American!
Lame.
I'm annoyed. I was going moan about the Yanks and there "World" sports, come guys, there more than one country!. But then I noticed Finland, have I missed something, is Finland now a state of the USA? Is the World being taken over and we haven't spotted it yet. Oh yes it has, its called the Sarbaines Oxley Act.
I played in a skeeball league with "William Ocean" (2007 US Champ) - so reading this news warms a special place in my heart.
If this was in the US, they would have tasered him before they gave him a 6.0.
This makes me sad to be an American. Nobody wants to learn anything anymore, they just want to pretend all the time. *sigh*
This is just NOT cool.
The only time Craig pretends is when he does the air guitar thing. The dude is well respected as a punk rock musician in the bay area. Check out what happens next?, your mother, love songs and other bands he has been in.
What we need is an invention that will allow the air guitar to actually make sound, like the theremin.
